ELK
Rugged Cross Outfitters is located near the Cibola National Forest and the Gila Wilderness, with hunts also available on private lands. The New Mexico Dept. of Game and Fish set the seasons for elk, with archery hunts in September, youth hunts in early October, and Muzzle-Loader & Rifle hunts in mid October. New Mexico bull elk are hightly sought after and licenses are available by lottery draw and private landowner tags only. These hunts should be booked a year in advance in order to reserve your private land tag or apply for the lottery draw.
ANTELOPE
If you enjoy plenty of excitement, but your hunting time is limited, then antelope hunting is for you. The hunt is only 3 days and the licenses are guaranteed, but due to limited permits these hunts should be booked early. We have a 100% success rate on antelope, with bucks scoring 80"-90" B&C!
DESERT MULE DEER
We offer rifle Mule Deer hunts in mid November, SPACE IS LIMITED! These hunts are conducted primarily on private lands, with over 150,000 acres private. Our help in game management on these ranches for several years, along with limiting the number of hunters and controlling lion population, has resulted in increased herd size and trophy quality bucks. We typically see bucks scoring 160"-180" B&C. This hunt is all spot and stalk, so don't forget to bring your binoculars!

MOUNTAIN LION
The lion hunt is a fair chase, entirely on horseback, with the dogs trailing on dry ground. You will experience the thrill of the hunt, AND see firsthand the immenseness and beauty of the Desert Rocky Mountains. Since the hunt is horseback, space is limited to 1 or 2 persons per hunt. Any leagal weapon of choice can be used. These hunts are a 6 day hunt beginning in December and running through March 31st. Our success rate has been over 90% for over 10 years! Also bring your camera~ you will want to capture your up close encounter with this magnificnet animal, better known as ... "The Ghost of the Rockies."
